Media, Podcasts & Influence Network
Fox News, Truth Social, OAN, Newsmax, the “manosphere,” Elon Musk/DOGE, and conspiracy-friendly appointees. How pro-Trump media became a pipeline to power.
How long has Fox News supported Trump?
Since 2015–2016, Fox News primetime has amplified Trump rallies, minimized scandals, and granted him far more interview time than rival networks. Hosts such as Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson (until 2023) appeared at or promoted campaign events; critics compared the loop to state-aligned media. Rupert Murdoch’s outlet helped normalize false election-fraud narratives after 2020 on shows like Justice with Judge Jeanine.
That relationship did not end with leaving office. In the second term, Fox alumni and on-air personalities moved directly into cabinet-level and law-enforcement roles, blurring the line between coverage and governance.
Deep dive (first term rallies): Fox News & campaign rallies
Which Fox-connected figures entered government in 2025?
| Person | Fox role | Trump administration role |
|---|---|---|
| Pete Hegseth | Fox & Friends Weekend co-host | Secretary of Defense (Senate confirmed) |
| Jeanine Pirro | The Five co-host; former elected NY judge | U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia (confirmed) |
| Dan Bongino | Frequent Fox contributor; podcast host | FBI deputy director (Mar. 2025 – Jan. 2026; returned to media) |
| Sean Duffy | Fox Business / Fox News contributor | Secretary of Transportation |
| Tulsi Gabbard | Fox News contributor | Director of National Intelligence |
Pirro is a federal prosecutor, not a lifetime Article III judge. Separately, Trump defense lawyer Emil Bove received a lifetime appointment to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (July 2025) after serving as a senior DOJ official. Bove is a Trump lawyer on the bench, not a Fox host.
What about Kash Patel and the FBI?
Kash Patel, a longtime Trump loyalist who promoted conspiracy claims about the “deep state” and authored pro-Trump books, became FBI director in 2025. He had no prior FBI rank; critics argued the appointment politicized the bureau. Patel worked alongside deputy Dan Bongino, a podcast host with no FBI experience, until Bongino resigned effective January 3, 2026, less than a year in office, citing personal toll and reported clashes with Attorney General Pam Bondi over cases including Epstein files.
Missouri AG Andrew Bailey later served as co-deputy director after Bongino’s departure. The pattern: media-famous Trump allies installed atop institutions that previously investigated him.

How do Elon Musk, DOGE, and Truth Social fit?
Truth Social: Trump Media platform; primary outlet for statements courts and journalists cite (see X posts archive for pre-2021 Twitter era). Pardon announcements, election claims, and attack posts often land here first.
Elon Musk: Endorsed Trump 2024; hosted Spaces interview; shared AI dance deepfake (Aug. 2024). Led DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) in early 2025, terminating thousands of contracts while SpaceX and xAI remained major federal contractors, ABC and others reported $18B+ to Musk firms over a decade, with continued awards under Trump. Critics called it slash-and-enrich.
OAN & Newsmax: Cable alternatives that amplified 2020 fraud claims and remain in the pro-Trump ecosystem alongside Fox, talk radio, and Rumble.
What is the bro-podcast and conspiracy pattern?
Podcasts (2024–): Trump and JD Vance prioritized long-form shows with comedians and influencers (Rogan, Von, Schulz, Hinchcliffe, Adin Ross, Nelk Boys) where hosts rarely fact-check and clips spread on TikTok/X. PBS and Variety credited the “manosphere” with shifting young men rightward.
QAnon & science denial: Trump declined to disavow QAnon in 2020 (“I know very little”); supporters saw coded approval. In office he elevated figures who reject consensus science, most prominently Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at HHS, who promoted debunked vaccine-autism links and replaced CDC vaccine advisers. Pattern: co-opt conspiratorial audiences without owning the label, then install believers in agencies that regulate the topics.
By mid-2026 some podcasters who boosted Trump in 2024 publicly criticized ICE raids and foreign policy, showing the network is fluid, not permanent loyalty.
TLDR: media as staffing pool
Fox and allied outlets supplied messaging for a decade and then supplied personnel: Hegseth at Defense, Pirro prosecuting in D.C., Bongino briefly at FBI #2 under Patel. Musk merged meme culture (AI dance video), billions in contracts, and DOGE cuts. Truth Social, OAN, and Newsmax extend reach; bro-podcasts delivered unfiltered hours to voters Rogan and others helped flip, with JD Vance continuing the tour in 2026.
